About Wandering Sage

Where Philosophy Becomes a Way of Life

Wandering Sage is rooted in the belief that philosophy isn’t just for books or classrooms — it’s for living.
Inspired by traditions from East and West, and guided by thinkers like Socrates, Pierre Hadot, and Simone Weil, we explore the big questions of meaning, purpose, and inner freedom.

Here, philosophy is spiritual, existential, and practical — a path to greater clarity, depth, and compassionate living in the modern world.

Who I Am

I’m Darren Harper — a philosophy educator, meditation teacher, and lifelong seeker.

After an early career in the Royal Navy, I returned to education as a mature student, earning a First-Class Honours degree in English and Creative Writing, followed by a PGCE. For over a decade, I’ve taught Philosophy, Global Wisdom Traditions, and Literature across the UK, offering adult learners a chance to engage deeply with life’s most enduring questions.

My teaching blends Socratic dialogue, reflective writing, and contemplative practice — rooted in both Western and Eastern traditions. In 2023, I qualified with Distinction from the British School of Meditation, deepening my commitment to an integrated, lived philosophy.

Wandering Sage is the fruit of this journey: a space for those drawn to wisdom, stillness, and the search for meaning.
